Honey: The sticky sweet syrup collected from bees is not just used for sweetener anymore.
Medical professionals have found that honey has many healing properties too. I will list five reasons why you should integrate honey into your diet.
1. Cough suppressant- Honey is used to soothe sore throats and lessen sensitivity.
2. Soothes burns- A thin layer of honey could have an anti inflammatory effect while also preventing infection.
3. Sleep aid- Raw honey has the ability to facilitate the action of tryptophan which helps make people tired.
4. Heals wounds- Honey can help sterilize cuts and help wounds heal more smoothly. Honey also forms antibacterial properties and contains enzymes that form hydrogen peroxide.
5. Boosts Immunity- Phytonutrients in honey have antibacterial and antiviral properties that could help fight sickness.

Pollination: Honey bees are one of the easiest insects to use for pollinating crops. There are over 90 different crops that require bee pollination such as fruits, vegetables, almonds, and alfalfa seed. Pollination is especially important to us because 1/3 of our diet depends on pollinated goods. Annually, bee pollination is a $20 billion operation. Farmers rent hives from commercial beekeepers to ensure their crops are adequately pollinated. If it weren't for pollinators, farmers would be forced to pollinate their crops by hand!
Beeswax: Beeswax is found in many household items. Some of the most popular items beeswax is used in are candles, cosmetics, soaps, food production/preservation, chewing gum, pharmaceuticals, skin care, furniture polish, and many other goods.
Mead: Mead is an alcoholic beverage that is made by fermenting honey, water and often times grain. Mead can be found as a home brew or brewed commercially. Depending on the brew process, Mead may be sparking, dry, sweet or flavorful. Many people use herbs, fruit or spices to flavor their mead. Needless to say there are many varieties of mead, and many ways to make it. Typically, when mead is done fermenting it has an alcohol content of anywhere between 8% to 18%.
